My paintings delve into a flux of chaos, harmony, change, technology, abundance, and waste all at once. I draw upon several sources of influence from abstract expressionism to post pop surrealism, figurative art and traditional landscape techniques. My work has a maximal approach through out the painting process. The concepts behind the work come from our associations with things being constructed, or neglected including physical elements like buildings and landscapes, to the more enigmatic such as cultural traditions, memory, social structure, and balance. The finished work becomes a source of visual stimulation. Instead of reducing the elements in a painting, I am always intrigued and challenged by including more into a work. My paintings also examine relationships between us as a society and our ever changing surroundings. I am fascinated at our attention or indifference to an immediate environment. I rely heavily upon juxtaposition and narrative where the ultimate conclusion is decided upon by the viewer.
Jeff Andrade Hemming is a Bay Area artist who paints in oil and creates complex works of art. The style of work he makes falls in a maximalist genre. Jeff’s work shows a hyper-exuberant and complex overlaying of converging elements in an entropic manner. The elements are images of materials that connotes society’s excess materialism, and in addition, Jeff amalgamates the concept of the ever changing macro/micro-relations between humanity and his environment.
